Longest carpet of flowers

On 24 July 2010, the longest carpet of flowers was placed out in the beautiful city of Ventspils in Latvia. A city recognised for its passion of flowers, it was the complete venue to accomplish a Guinness World Records effort.
Volunteers of the city got together early the shining Saturday morning to set about presenting the potted flowers particularly outlines, repairing traditional Latvian knitting designs. The first flowers were laid at 10:03 am, and carried on until the late hours, finishing the carpet at 6:00 pm
During all this time, the volunteers worked indefatigably. At the same time, residents and visitors of the city were furthered to buy more flowers to add to the far goal of the carpet, broadening it even further.
After hours of work in the hot Latvian sun, Guinness World Records adjudicator Mariamarta Ruano-Graham calculated the carpet which was then double checked by on-hand professional surveyors. After comparing measurements, it was laid down that the new longest carpet of flowers measured an stately 1,665.93 m (6465.64 ft)!
