"Jordan Romero" Youngest Person to Summit Mount Everest

A 13-year-old American boy became the youngest person to ever achieve the top of Mount Everest _ 5/22/10, one of the most discouraging physical and mental challenges on the planet. He becomes the youngest person to have armoured the world's biggest peak.

Romero attained the 29,035-foot summit Saturday morning local time (Himalayan range). Romero was mounting with his father Paul, Paul's girlfriend Karen Lundgren and three Nepalese sherpas.
His trip was disputable because of his age and the mental and physical prowess compulsory to achieve the top of Everest, and because of the risks affiliated with a mountain. The young Californian has now mounted the largest mountains on six of the world's seven continents. He summited Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania at age 9. When he reached the top of Everest, Romero called his mom."He says, 'Mom, I'm calling you from the top of the world,'"
Romeo breaks a record guarded by Nepalese Mingkipa Sherpani, a female climber who in 2003 summited Everest via the Northeast Ridge Route at 15. It is also the World Record "The First Family" to stand together on the Summit.
"I do feel a bit overwhelmed, I mean, I do respect the boundaries ... of the mountain," Jordan told "But we take all the precautions. We're going as safe as we can ... and we feel really good about it." he said. "I have seen Mount Everest so far and that is something that will stay with me,"
A spokesman for Jordan said the boy's team called him by satellite phone from the summit of the world's greatest mountain, 29,035 feet above sea level. "Their dreams have now come true. Everyone sounded unbelievably happy". When inquired to her mother what she would say to him once he achieved the summit, she began crying: "I can't really say that. It's just emotional".

The peaks are a challenge for even the most full-fledged climbers, and trampers have been killed on the dangerous treks. That danger prompted many to criticize Jordan's parents for allowing and supporting him to accept the adventure. Jordan's mother lives nearby and while she soundly supports his destination, she herself does not mountain climb.
The Nepalese government would not give the family permit to mount Everest from Nepal, citing Jordan's age. To make the ascent, Jordan's team went from the Chinese side, a harder border on, but where there is no age limitation.
