Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is an iron network tower located in Paris. It was finished March 31, 1889. It was first planned out around 1884. It represents the very essence of French artistic talent. It was built nearly 120 years ago has suffered near destruction to German invasion and the raising of the German flag atop the Eiffel Tower. It is one of the most marvolous buildings in all of the world. It was not only the tallest building in the world for nearly half a century but it is one of the most visited buildings in all of the world. It was named after one of the most influential people in its construction, a contractor, engineer and architect by the name of Gustave Eiffel. During the First World War the tower proved priceless in communications. It is said that taxis were trasmited from the Tower to the frontline during the Battle of the Marne.

The tower stands 324 m tall, about the same height as an 81-storey building. It was the tallest man-made structure in the world from its completion until the Chrysler Building in New York City was built in 1930. Since its opening, more than 200 million people have visited the Eiffel Tower, many climbing its 1665 steps. The Eiffel Tower measures some 324 metres including its flagpole and is made up of over 18,000 separate components.

The Eiffel Tower was constructed for a many of reasons. The main reason for its design was for the World Exhibition commemerating the 100 year aniversery of the French Revolution in Europe. The other reason of its construction was for its promising nature of a scientific research. In fact, the basic reason was here today is because of it use as a radio transmission therefore it is an important structure in radio communications. Finally another reason the Eiffel Tower was built was to establish a history that purified the purpose of the Paris Exposition.

The tower has three levels for visitors. The walk to the first level is over 300 steps, as is the walk from the first to the second level. The third and highest level is accessible only by lift. Both the first and second levels feature restaurants.

The tower has become the most prominent symbol of both Paris and France. The Eiffel Tower is a piece of beauty. It structure simple yet intriguing. Its height intimidating yet comforting. The Eiffel Tower's beauty is also not exclusive to daytime function as well. Some of the most beautiful scenes in the world have come from Paris, France, the Eiffel Tower being the main contributor by far. During the night time, it glows to a golden light and illuminates the city in a burst of beauty.
